I found this while reading up on the old alchemists for the desert retreat, and I have watched it three times now. The Hermetic School lays out the four stages the alchemists named, and the part that stayed with me is how plainly it says the furnace is a mirror. I have spent years charting constellations and calling that the deep work, but my mornings of breathwork and Tai Chi keep teaching me the same thing from the other direction: the metal being worked is closer than the sky. The nigredo, the blackening, is not the failure of the process. It is the process. If you have been in a dark stretch and calling it a detour, let this one reframe your week.
