What the Long Exposure Found
By Castor Shadowmancer

A photographer whose work I've been studying for the travel magazine sent me this one, and I've watched it three times now. He gets asked why he keeps driving out to dark places with a tripod when a phone could do it, and his answer is the thing I keep circling: the camera is more patient than the eye. It stands still for twenty seconds gathering light we never notice we're already standing in, then hands it back to us. I've spent a month trying to write a stargazing guide that does the same thing, holding a moment open long enough for someone to finally see it. He manages it with a shutter. I'm still working on the words.
