The One Beat Was There First

I found this talk from the Theosophical Society on the occult side of sound, and it named something my hands have known for years. Gramaglia speaks of vibration as the first language, the current that carries meaning before a single word arrives. Sitting with it here in Santa Fe, I kept hearing the desert underneath him: wind through the chamisa, a balloon burner lifting over the arroyo, my own breath at the top of a session. The same tone at different volumes. I have placed singing bowls on people and called it healing for a long while, and this film reminded me what I am really listening for.
