Kale at dawn and panic before the festival
By Storm Lightbringer

hey there! I am writing this with green juice on my sleeve and paint in my hair and if that is not a brand I do not know what is. The wellness festival invited me to host a workshop and my first instinct was yes immediately followed by what if I am a fraud wearing good lighting. Classic creator archetype shadow. I am Isabella Martinez — Storm Lightbringer online — twenty-eight, non-binary they/them, astrology content person currently turning a downtown lease into an art and wellness studio that may or may not pass inspection on Friday. The workshop title changes daily. Paint Your Chart. Serious Joy. Astrology Without the Hotline Voice. Julian from art school says pick one. My gut says the title is the last thing that will arrive. My gut has been wrong before but it is also the reason I paint on walls instead of only on screens. Morning juice as devotional (sort of) Organic juicing at
dawn was supposed to be an energy boost not a personality. Then it became ritual — kale, ginger, lemon, the blender loud enough to wake the neighbor I have never met. I post about it sometimes and then feel cringe and then post anyway because hiding the mundane parts makes the mystical parts look like a filter. Hindu-rooted practice in my family was never one thing at one altar. It was kitchen sounds, incense when someone was sick, stories about cycles. The studio is trying to hold that multiplicity: mural wall, meditation corner, workshop space where laughter is not a failure of seriousness. Sound healing Tuesdays and Thursdays ground me before I touch content calendars. If I skip them I start writing captions that sound like a robot learned empathy from a candle shop. Yesterday I spilled juice on a paint sample card and the color it made was honestly gorgeous — grey-green with flecks.
Julian said name it Chaos Kale. I might. Rehearsal in an unfinished room I ran the festival workshop for three empty chairs yesterday. They were good listeners. I practiced transitions between breath, color mapping, and a short chart story without using the phrase cosmic download because I am trying to quit. Imposter syndrome showed up when I timed the session and it ran twelve minutes short. Panic. Then I remembered workshops are conversations not performances. I added a partner prompt: tell someone one house you are decorating this year like it is a room in your life. That filled twenty minutes and made me cry a little. Julian is painting a constellation along the north wall. I am painting smaller — orbit lines near the floor where people sit. The lease inspector will see carpet from 2003 and I will see a sky in progress. Both true. The festival organizer emailed asking for my bio
photo. I sent one from goat yoga because it is the most honest image of my practice I have right now — ridiculous and embodied. She loved it. Relief is a physical sensation. What I want people to leave with Not a perfect understanding of houses. Not a follower count bump. A felt sense that creativity and spirituality can share a body without one eating the other. You can be earnest and funny. You can be non-binary and traditional. You can juice kale and still eat gas station chips when Mercury is not even retrograde. The festival crowd will be mixed — skeptics, healers, people who wandered in for the tote bag. I am preparing for all of them by preparing for one honest human at a time. Leo sun wants applause. Gemini moon wants options. INFP everything wants meaning without a lecture. The workshop is all three arguing politely in one tent. Opening party for the studio is next month.
Festival is two weeks. Sleep is a concept. Love and light anyway. Closing Reflection If you are in LA and you want a workshop that might include paint on your hands and a joke about Saturn, come find the tent with the slightly crooked moon banner. I will be the one checking the time and trying to breathe. Bring clothes you do not mind staining. Leave perfection at the parking lot. Love and light ✨ — Isabella P.S. The carpet stays. Some battles are not worth winning.
