Week one in Iceland and the wind

Hello cosmic friends. I landed in Keflavik nine days ago with two suitcases, one meditation cushion, and the confident energy of a man who had watched too many travel reels and not enough weather reports. Austin was heat and cicadas and my neighbor's dog judging my life choices. Iceland is wind that sounds like someone moving furniture in the sky. I am not complaining. I am reporting. People keep asking if it feels magical. Sometimes. Mostly it feels like moving. Boxes. Wrong outlet adapters. A landlord who is kind and speaks faster than my brain can translate. I found the noodle aisle at Bonus on day three and almost cried, which is less about noodles and more about proof that I can build a routine in a new country without pretending the routine is destiny. What I got right and wrong Right call: bringing layers that actually work. Wrong call: assuming my favorite incense would survive

customs scrutiny without becoming a conversation. Right call: renting near a bus line because I am trying to live lighter and drive less. Wrong call: scheduling a client call on arrival day like I would still be in Texas time and Texas nervous system. I was neither. I was a person eating airport yogurt and trying to find the water heater switch in a dark kitchen. I wrote in my last post that I was moving here to listen better. Week one listening report: the city hum is different. Less traffic horn, more distant ocean and bus brakes and the clink of bottles being returned at the recycling machine. I did a moon ritual on the balcony because habit travels, y'know, and a neighbor waved from across the street like moon rituals on balconies were standard lease behavior. That helped more than the ritual itself, if I am honest. Minimalism looks heroic online. In practice it is choosing which

books earn shelf space in a country where everything costs more than your brain expects. I kept my worn copy of Hermetic texts. I left behind three decorative bowls I never used except to collect mail. The bowls would have looked great in photos. The texts kept me company on the flight when turbulence made everyone quiet. The land does not perform for you I took the bus to the coast on day five because I needed horizon and not another box. The basalt looked like the earth remembered something and refused to soften about it. A tourist next to me said this feels ancient. A local teenager sitting nearby said this feels like Tuesday. Both true. That is what I am learning here. Wonder and practicality share a bench if you let them. I am not going to pretend I have merged with the aurora yet. I have merged with grocery math. I have merged with learning which café will let me sit with a

notebook for two hours without making me feel like a problem. I have merged with wind that rewrites your hair and your schedule in the same minute. The hero in me wants a cinematic breakthrough. The human in me wants dry socks and a working kettle. Both are spiritual, I have decided. Lucid dreaming still happens, by the way. The first night I dreamed I was back in Austin trying to pack a suitcase that would not close because the sky kept adding items. Feathers. Road signs. A friend's laugh. I woke up and wrote it down on the back of a receipt. Not everything needs interpretation. Some things just need witness. Why I am still glad I came Because I was overcommitted in Austin. Because I said yes to everything noble and burned my calendar like it was sage. Because I wanted a place that would interrupt my performance of enlightenment with weather. Iceland is interrupting me daily. Good. I

needed a teacher with teeth. I met another consciousness consultant at a community meetup, which is a sentence that sounds ridiculous until you are the one holding bad coffee and grateful for it. Her name is Rún. She said people come here to escape or to arrive. Escape looks like buying more gear. Arrival looks like learning the bus map. I am trying to arrive. Some days that means a moon ritual. Some days it means admitting I am lonely and texting a friend instead of posting about transcendence. Clients are asking if I am still taking sessions. Yes, with new hours. No, I will not pretend the move made me wiser overnight. If anything it made me more precise. Less caption, more listening. That is the work I came to do. The land is helping by refusing to flatter me. Closing Reflection If you followed the Iceland thread, thank you for not treating my life like a fantasy series. I will keep

posting the real version. Wind, noodles, rituals, receipts. Stay enlightened ✨ — Cosmos
